02/28/2010 2:46 PM -
Eight different players scored on Sunday as the Baltimore Blast defeated the Philadelphia KiXX, 23-14, at Liacouras Center on Temple University.  The third-place Baltimore Blast, led by Machel Millwood's hat trick, improved to 8-7 on the season and have won their last three games.  The Blast and KiXX will meet again on Friday night at 1st Mariner Arena.

The Blast dominated the first half, jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and taking a 15-2 lead into the halftime intermission.

Mike Lookingland started the scoring spree at the 3:29 mark, putting the Blast on top, 2-0, and Adrian Bumbut followed up just 34 seconds to extend the lead to 4-0.  Robbie Aristodemo and Pat Healey scored the next two goals to increase the lead to 6-0 and 8-0 before the quarter ended.

The KiXX cut into the Blast lead at 2:50 of the second quarter to make it 8-2 but Millwood answered with a three-point power-play goal to keep the Blast on top, 11-2.  Millwood scored again at 12:22 and rookie Max Ferdinand knocked in a goal just 29 seconds later to end the first half.

The KiXX, led by former Blast player Adauto Neto came alive in the second half, scoring three goals in both quarters.  Neto scored the first goal of the third quarter, a power-play goal just 41 seconds into the second half to make it 15-4, before Giuliano Celenza increased the Blast lead to 17-4.  Pat Morris scored at 14:17 and Neto added his second goal less than 20 seconds later to cut the Blast lead to 17-8.

The fourth quarter featured six total goals, kicked off by forward Rod Dyachenko who scored twice in the final quarter.  The KiXX got the next two with Ptah Myers making it 19-10 and Morris scoring his second goal of the game to cut the Blast lead to 19-12.  Dyachenko scored again, midway through the quarter (his fourth goal in three games) and KiXX head coach Don D'Ambra scored next to make it 21-14.  Millwood completed his second hat trick of the season to give the Blast the 23-14 victory.

With just five regular season games remaining, the Blast will return to 1st Mariner Arena Friday night to host the KiXX and again Saturday night to play the Monterrey La RaZa.  Friday night is Hope4Life night featuring NBA legends Sam Jones and Wali Jones and Saturday night Pat Ercoli and Cris Vaccaro will be inducted into the Baltimore Blast Hall of Fame.  Tickets to the four remaining Blast home games are available by calling 410-73-BLAST and at www.TicketMaster.com.

Notes:
* Dyachenko has a goal in each of the last three games (and four goals in three games).
* Defender Zach Wilkes has recorded an assist in three straight games.
* This was Millwood's second hat trick of the season.
