Blast Lose, 11-6, to KiXX

03/14/2009 7:46 AM - The Baltimore Blast lost 11-6, Saturday night to the Philadelphia KiXX at the Wachovia Spectrum.  The Blast fell to 13-3 and snapped a six-game winning streak.  The Blast has two regular season games remaining while the KiXX, Rampage and La RaZa are still battling for the final two postseason spots.  One of those three teams will advance to meet the Blast in the 2009 NISL Championship Game on April 11th at 1st Mariner Arena.  Billy Nelson, Carlos Garcia and Giuliano Celenza scored for the Blast in the loss.

Nelson scored at the 11:33 mark of the first quarter to open the scoring and give the Blast a 2-0 lead.  In goal, Sagu, the League-leading goalkeeper, made four saves in the opening quarter.

Angel Rivillo tied the game at 2-2 midway through the second quarter.

With Machel Millwood serving a two-minute tripping penalty, Joe Di Buono scored to give the KiXX their first lead of the game, 4-2, early in the second half.  John Barry Nusum added a goal at the 12:25 mark of the third quarter to extend the KiXX lead to 6-2.

Jeremy Ortiz put Philadelphia on top, 8-2, in the fith minute of the final quarter and Pat Morris scored a three-pointer against Baltimore's sixth attacker to make it 11-2.  Garcia and Celenza scored late in the game to cut the KiXX lead to 11-6.
