SharX Earn 17-12 Victory in Norfolk

01/12/2012 9:46 AM -

In the first of four games in 20 days between the Blast and the Norfolk SharX, the SharX earned a hard-fought 17-12 win.  Miguel Ferrer led the SharX to their second victory of the season with one three-point goal and one two-point goal.  Blast rookie J.T. Noone led Baltimore with two goals and rookies Nicki Paterson and Stephen DeRoux each added one goal.

The Blast took an early 2-0 lead on a goal from Noone but the SharX tied the game late in the quarter.  The Blast took a 4-2 lead in the second quarter on a Shaun David goal before Gary Brooks and Marcos Schmidt scored to tie the game again then give the SharX their first lead of the game, 7-4.

The SharX scored three goals in the high-scoring third quarter to jump out to a 14-10 lead.  Despite goals from Paterson and DeRoux to open the second half and regain a Blast lead (8-7), the SharX continued to fight hard, resulting in goals from Matthew Delicate and Gerson Dos Santos for an 11-8 lead.  Noone scored his second goal of the night to cut the SharX lead to 11-10 but Ferrer answered with his second goal, a three-pointer, to extend Norfolk's lead to 14-10 heading into the final quarter of play.

Adriano Dos Santos scored for the Blast in the fourth quarter but James Gunderson knocked in a long-range three-point goal against Baltimore's sixth attacker to clinch the 17-12 victory.

Paterson, who saw his first game action, also recorded the assist to David in the second quarter.
