Blast Defeat Ambush 3-1
The Baltimore Blast traveled to St. Louis to take on the Ambush Sunday afternoon. In a low scoring game the Blast were victorious 3-1.
In the first quarter the Blast took the lead when Andrew Hoxie recorded his 15th goal of the season assisted by Daniel Peruzzi. This would be the only goal recorded in the first half. The Blast controlled possession and shut down scoring chances for the Ambush. Five Blast players recorded blocks in the half while William Vanzela recorded 6 saves in net. At the half the Blast led 1-0.
In the third quarter both teams got scoring opportunities but both goalkeepers were able to shut down the opposition. No goals were recorded in the quarter and the Blast held the 1-0 lead.
Daniel Peruzzi would end the scoreless drought with a goal at the 7:39 mark with a goal assisted by William Vanzela. The Ambush would answer when Lucas Almeida converted a penalty kick to cut the lead to one. After the Ambush brought on the 6th attacker Nelson Santana was able to take advantage of an empty net with an impressive shot from his own defensive zone that landed in the goal. This goal would seal the victory for the Blast with a final score of 3-1.
The Blast were led by Daniel Peruzzi who recorded a goal and an assist. Andrew Hoxie and Nelson Santana also recorded goals. Defensively Pat Healey led the way with 3 blocks while William Vanzela recorded 13 saves in the victory.
The Blast will return home for the regular season finale on Sunday, March 5th against the Harrisburg Heat. The game will include a Lucas Roque bobble head giveaway to the first 1,000 fans 18 and older, a halftime Hall of Fame induction of Danny Kelly, and fan appreciation night with postgame autographs on the field.
